Dorothy Kwok Wadman
M.S.Ed., M.S. Special Education
Educational Diagnostician | School Psychological Examiner
Psychoeducational Assessment Specialist, Lumos Learning
Dorothy Wadman is an Educational Diagnostician and School Psychological Examiner specializing in comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for students in international and multilingual school settings. She holds dual master’s degrees in Educational Diagnostics and Special Education and has advanced training in cognitive, academic, language, executive functioning, literacy, and social-emotional assessment.
Through Lumos Learning, Dorothy conducts individualized evaluations for students experiencing learning differences, dyslexia and literacy-related challenges, attention and executive functioning difficulties, and complex academic profiles. Her assessments draw on a range of internationally recognized standardized instruments—including cognitive, achievement, language, behavioral, and executive functioning measures such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF), BASC, Conners rating scales, and structured literacy and developmental academic assessments—together with developmental history and school-based data to provide a comprehensive understanding of each learner.
In addition to her independent assessment work, Dorothy serves as a learning support specialist within an international school and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary student support teams. Her reports are designed to be immediately usable by schools and families and are aligned with internationally recognized psychoeducational assessment practices across American, British, and IB curricula.
Dorothy has particular expertise supporting expatriate and multilingual learners, students transitioning between educational systems, and learners whose profiles include overlapping cognitive, academic, and executive functioning needs. Her evaluations are widely used by international-school support teams to inform learning support services, accommodation planning, and individualized educational decision-making.
Dorothy is also the author of the Lumos Academy children’s book series, which helps students understand learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and writing challenges through research-informed storytelling. The series reflects her commitment to translating insights from psychoeducational assessment, the Science of Reading, and structured literacy approaches—including Orton–Gillingham–informed multisensory instruction—into language that empowers students, families, and educators with practical strategies and a strengths-based understanding of how children learn.
